BPD Vs Bipolar marks a powerful return to grunge. What drew you back to this sound, and why did it feel like the right language for this story?

Reetoxa: I started with the intro, and in my head, it sounded angry and confused. The distortion pedal brought it to life.

The single tackles mental illness in a very raw and unfiltered way. How important was it for you to portray these themes honestly rather than romantically or abstractly?

Reetoxa: As the person who wrote it, I feel there is not enough information or art in the world regarding mental illness. I want to build awareness.

You’ve spoken about the song being rooted in real experiences from a past relationship. How difficult was it to revisit those moments while writing and recording this track?

Reetoxa: It’s a hard song to perform and to relive painful memories, but if it helps one other person, I have done the right thing.

This release seems to mark a turning point, bringing you back to music after a period away. What changed internally that pushed you to pick up songwriting again?

Reetoxa: I wrote BpD vs bipolar, you and another song on our second album called alright in one day back in 2012. This got me back into songwriting and I realised I do not want to do anything else.

Grunge has always been associated with emotional tension and inner conflict. How do you see BPD Vs Bipolar fitting into that legacy while still feeling modern and personal?

Reetoxa: I feel our music pay respects to our 90’s hero’s but is still original with a modern twist. I think more direct lyrics is the key.

Compared to your previous releases, how has your songwriting approach evolved on this track, both lyrically and emotionally?

Reetoxa: This song is basically a fight brought to life. I’m proud of this one; it’s a warts-and-all approach.

The song places listeners directly inside a turbulent mental and emotional space. What do you hope people who’ve lived through similar situations take away from it?

Reetoxa: That they are not alone and that beautiful art can come from mental illness.

For listeners discovering you for the first time through this single, what do you feel BPD Vs Bipolar says about who Reetoxa is as an artist today?

Reetoxa: I think we are boundary pushers not afraid to take on any topic.

You’ve released this track across all platforms, with physical media available on Bandcamp. How important is that physical connection for you and your audience?

Reetoxa: I was so proud when the vinyl and CDs were delivered. It’s important our fans have access to these mediums.

Now that this chapter is open again, what’s next for you creatively—can listeners expect more music exploring personal themes, or are you looking to push into new territory?
