The landscape of alt-pop is often crowded with polished, predictable hooks, but every so often, a collaboration emerges that feels like a shift in the atmosphere. On February 22, 2026, producer Night Wolf and singer-songwriter Lois Powell released “Unstoppable,” their third and perhaps most ambitious project to date.
The track is a cinematic journey—a slow-burn masterpiece that trades easy melodies for grit, distorted acoustic guitars, and a soaring trip-hop energy. It is a song that feels “sync-ready,” perfectly suited for a high-stakes drama or a prestige title sequence, yet it remains deeply personal. It explores themes of fragile hope and the kind of resilience that can only be found after something has been broken.
We sat down with the duo to discuss the technical “accidents” that shaped the sound, their creative shorthand, and why they aren’t afraid to let the listener wait for the climax.
Interview with Night Wolf & Louis Powell
L.P: I played some chords and Night Wolf edited it to give it that specific feeling.
N.W: So Lois had sent me previously some voice clips of her playing and singing on the guitar and there was one riff that kept sticking out to me when listening and I could already hear in my head how the drums would sound and the strings. I asked her to come over and let me record that guitar part, I am sure what we actually recorded was something similar but still had that vibe I was looking for I heard before. We then looped a part and I processed it there and then as I already knew I wanted it to sound like something is not quite right , that it was not going to open like a thousand other pop songs with an acoustic guitar playing alone , it instantly has more movement and is telling a story in itself that its distorted and not going to be a clean ride. The whole song was then built around that guitar part and what Lois started to sing, we did many takes over and over, each time getting Lois to go a little more crazy and push which resulted in coming out on the final recording and have this slow burn with a climax at the ending of the song. It just flowed very easily and the tone set by Lois and then bouncing of each other as we built it in that afternoon created this feeling , but it’s certainly Lois’s lyrics that bring that sense of telling her feelings in a broken lens way, it’s not just another love song it feels like there is someone working through their problems in real time and finding a resolution at the end of it and breaking through. It was fun to create with Lois and the fact the song was complete the next day just goes to show how easily it flowed and came together.
N.W: Our first two songs, Lost My Way Home firstly, I had already created the song and wrote the lyrics to it and after reminding myself that I do not like my own voice and only hearing in my head now a female singing it, I went out to several open mic nights in and around Bedford and was on the look out for a female singer or singers to be able to potentially work with, it just so happened that night I was looking I went to the Flower Pot and saw Lois performing, I instantly knew her she was very talented and her voice was unique and she was authentic , I asked her after she finished If she would be interested in singing some ideas I have as I thought her voice would work. She then accepted and came to my home studio which at this time I was only just putting back together whilst waiting to sound treat my room so all that was to hand was a cheaper mic and my keyboard and laptop. It ended up sounding great as it was and had a very personal touch even though it was not the greatest microphone used to record. I then had nearly finished another idea already and was still adding elements whilst working on it with Lois , I had written the lyrics up till The Death of The Wolf and then Lois took over and wrote the rest. Unstoppable was truly our first song together where we built it from the ground up together and learned about how we both operate when creating something fresh. I think each time we get together and create something we are learning how best to work with each other, the first two songs we did was a little restrictive for Lois as I was trying to get her to perform my songs, but Unstoppable is all Lois, she played the guitar, wrote the lyrics and performed many takes and helped to pick out some defining moments in the song like the chorus. I then finished it alone over the night and the next day. I just enjoy making this kind of music and this was a fun song to make together and I keep saying it flowed very easily as it did. I enjoy to create songs that have a gritty or dark undertone and a head nodding beat that is distorted and a little off. It really is based on how we are feeling and the mood in the room to how the final result will be for how the song’s mood is reflected back. I really enjoy just experimenting and seeing what happens rather than sitting and discussing how we are going to get there before.
N.W: The song was built this way without really thinking about it at all, we knew after the chorus it should go up a notch as we know what Lois is capable of when she gets going from previous songs and lets loose. It was really built around the guitar and then the vocals so Lois also dictated in a way how the song would eventually turn out. It was not discussed or planned, it just worked and felt and feels right, it would have taken away from the impact and meaning of that climax had it repeated over and over in the song. We built the song with each other adding in new parts and then pushing on further throughout the session and voila, this is how the song ended up. I feel in a few of our songs now I enjoy taking the listener on a journey then have this peak somewhere in the song before everything starts to drift away again into the nothingness. Lois guided the song to end in its final form and is very good at doing multiple takes over and over so I have plenty to work with.
N.W: No not really although it is of course in the back of my mind somewhere when creating if it could be used in something , I do not allow it to dictate to me how the song will then play out. I do however plan to continue to push my new productions including our collaborations into the right hands for some hopefully great placements and synch opportunities in film/tv/game but as I am not doing this alone with out the help of my old publishers Flipper Music , I will have to learn more as I am going myself but have a good starting point. I just enjoy to make music that has a lot of orchestral influences throughout and I enjoy making darker sounding music with melodies that suit for use in visual media. We have been told a few times now that these songs we have together would work well in a James Bond movie or such as the like and we will be pushing to hopefully get it placed in something as such. We had a newly acquired fan that made some mock videos with our music replacing the main theme from some of the newer films and it works really well. Otherwise I see the scene play out as the main character is driving away from a mass of problems that maybe was self inflicted and at a point where they were about to give up with everything driving off into the sunset, but they are able to work out as they fight the tears and come back to reality that they can not keep running from everything and turns to drive head on back into the storm brewing and sees the light shining on her face, where it cuts to black and you are not quite sure if she made it or not but have a sudden sense of your own self worth again and gain a little boost of motivation.
N.W: This is not really something I think about I guess, It just is all based on feeling and vibes and the tones that are set out by Lois when playing and singing that shaped this final product, I have said before in other interviews so will repeat here, I actually am not one to keep going back to a project once it is complete and treat it like thinking about a painting, once the artist would apply the final strokes and touch it up , they won’t keep coming back and fixing things, in fact the flaws then become part of the story and part of the art, maybe this is just me trying to make excuses for the music not sounding as good as I want haha, but I do try to stick to that thought. However with this song I decided to go against my own motto and remastered this song before submitting it for a final tweak , I checked the files etc, but a week before release I listened to the file I submitted for release and it was the previous version before the final master I did, so .. yer the song that got released was not in fact the correct final BUT… I am not upset or do not like it as it is, it is just as it was before the final result I heard last , if that makes any sense, if I had not still enjoyed this version that was released I would of just removed it and delayed the release but I can live with it, again now part of the story in the long run and a valuable lesson learnt in the process to check everything like 5 times at least before hitting submit. Otherwise the whole track just flowed and it is easy to be able to build a song with Lois without either of us taking over where we should not so to say. I believe our best work is yet to come 🙂
N.W: This really is just based on feeling and reading the room kind of thing, it was never discussed or really even thought about during the creation process it just seemed to make sense to dull everything down as I feel in love with repeating the phrase do you wanna go somewhere with me we can share some energy , it felt natural during the recording process to progress that way as we were creating the song and that really did end up being reflected back into the final song, the final climax is where everything feels like its come together , a time where there is no more sadness but determination and a purpose to resolve. Unless it is planned and wanted in an idea pre-baked , It just makes sense in this song to have it all pull together towards the end and end on that feeling lingering around. Lois, if I did not stop her, would have been able to make 10 more climaxes or heightened choruses on top of that one if she was allowed, haha! But yes it was really not intentional , it just made sense as we made it.
L.P: For the vocals I just sang the lyrics I had written with vigour, and Night Wolf used those vocals to create a story arc the way he saw best.
N.W: Lois wrote the lyrics for this song all her ideas, so I am not sure of course where this song writing came from or what it truly means to Lois but I take away my own meanings for how it makes me feel and for how it made me feel when making the music. I have worked with many up and coming artists and recorded other instruments but never have really found someone to be able to create this kind of ethereal and folk like yet unique operatic qualities if that is English. Lois really is talented and her voice works very well with the style or genre I enjoy to create, I truly know that we will create some epic stuff together and as said before I believe our best work is yet to come. I have created a few other guitar lead songs with other artists but this is my favorite so far.
L.P: Fatal flaw, seasonal depression. Greatest strength, bubbly & energetic.
N.W: Well I said before I feel the character would be one that is slightly broken but slowly opening up again and finding themselves again in the darkness, their fatal flaw would have to be that they know they are part of the problem but can act on it and change the outcome if they face it and fight it. This would have to be that moment of realisation I mentioned before and be a character coming to terms with themselves or a situation and then standing up and pushing through and doing the right thing or finding the light at the end of a dark tunnel and becoming self motivated and more confident. Their greatest strength would be that they are self aware but this is also a double edged sword.
L.P: Not really, we did multiple takes and that section was just something I was singing and Night Wolf chose to put it at the end of the song.
N.W: It really just flowed up till that point and as we did so many takes over and over, each time pushing to go a little harder and release the Lois of previous recordings to open up and let loose. We sectioned out together the chorus initially and built with this in mind, but knew as stated before that it needed to have another level added for the final. I wanted to add a break in the song where it kind of fades out and comes back stronger and it just naturally flowed whilst we recorded to then end up having this climax towards the end of the song. This was a fun song to build and Lois is great at really getting into the feeling of a track before it’s even complete. I then finished the song the next day and made it into what it is now. Lois I think or I should know by know, i think , trusts me with her vocals and what she puts in will be a rewarding end result when recording with me, so she leaves me with multiple takes and I then work on it, we build harmonies as we go along after a few long takes and bing bang boom, its out.
L.P: I hope they feel unstoppable!
N.W: I think people can maybe walk away after listening to this song with a new found sense of self worth and no matter what is going on it is impossible to just stop some things and you must face it yourself, like having a little push from a friend when it’s needed most to push you back on the path of self motivation and care.
